Sing a Song

Good Music

I’m pretty sure that I took a class or twenty on what constituted ‘good music’.  I have opinions on this- I have many opinions on this.  In fact, I have several opinions that have swapped out with other opinions over the years making my current set quite different than other opinion sets of the past.  I expect I still have a few opinion changes in me to look forward to.

One opinion that hasn't changed, and which I don’t expect to, is my belief that people should enjoy their music (whether it’s good or not).  You should enjoy your music loudly; sing along, even if you’re absolutely terrible.  That said, if you are terrible, when you sing along in front of me, you should expect me to laugh... or possibly grimace.

Despite a thoroughly mediocre voice, I sing every time I get into a car.  It keeps me from expressing myself through emulating bumper cars on the freeway.  I get to safely express myself through the words and melodies that others have laid down for me.  Songs give you a story to belong to, and an out from the things frustrating you in your life.  Becoming a part of the performance gives you three to five minutes of control, which is sometimes enough to let you breath again.
